Tammy Frederick
Author, Voice Coach, Actor, Singer, Dancer

Growing up in my family, music, performing and the classic movie musicals were a part of the fabric of my life. At 10 years of age I fell in love with dancing and within a couple years was training extensively up to five days a week in jazz, ballet, and tap. I eventually went into competing and travelled throughout southern Ontario and New York State.

I continued to dance and train at my performing arts high school and fell in love all over again when I began to study Voice and the discipline of Musical Theatre.

After graduating, I began studying voice privately. I went through a number of different teachers, but found my coach when I was introduced to Bill Vincent. From my first lesson with Bill, I knew that he would be able to guide and coach me to the voice I wanted to release. I began regular training and my voice consistently progressed and took me into my post-secondary Musical Theatre schooling and beyond.

My passion and enthusiasm for the vocal technique and method was evident in our time together and in 2002 I became and associate teacher and opened my own studio in Toronto’s east end neighbourhood, the Beach. Over the past eleven years I have had the privilege and pleasure of helping develop the voices of hundreds of singers!

In 2005, I began producing full scale concerts to provide the opportunity for my clients to showcase their vocal training on stage. This process allowed singers to explore different genres, sing in harmony with fellow singers and perform their songs backed by a full band of talented musicians on some of Toronto’s great stages

Past concerts I have produced include; HomeGrown ~ A Celebration of Canadian Rock at the Rivoli, Rock Spirit Revival at Lee’s Palace, Party Shoes at C’est What, You Can Leave Your Hat On at Lulu Lounge, Something Celtic at Grace O’Malleys, and most recently Lights of Broadway: A Musical Theatre Cabaret at the Papermill Theatre at Todmorden Mills.

Over the years I have hosted many Open Mic Nites, conducted numerous Singing Workshops and have participated in two Toronto Music Expo’s. I have also had the pleasure of being an adjudicator for several singing competitions.

In 2006, I was thrilled to become a contributing vocal columnist for Canadian Musician magazine allowing me to broaden my support to singers across Canada.

Alongside my studio, I have continued to expand my career in Musical Theatre. I have had the opportunity to perform in many wonderful shows as well as take on the roles of Director, Music Director and Choreographer on many projects. In 2011, I was proud to become a Dance Company Member, Teacher and Choreographer for Momentum Dance Toronto’s inaugural season.

Some of my performing highlights include playing Sally Bowles in Cabaret, Hedy La Rue in How to Succeed in Business, and Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie for which I was honoured to receive the THEA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for my performance.

Recently I was seen onstage playing Sally Brown in You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown for which I am excited and honoured to have received my second THEA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for my performance. I am pictured here with my wonderful cast mate Jordan who played Charlie Brown and who was also nominated for his performance.

And this past November 2012 I was thrilled to perform the role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde: The Musical on stage at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts and the Newmarket Theatre! For more news and information please visit www.tammyfrederick.com

I am a passionate student of health, nutrition, and well-being and I am very active in this field of study. An enthusiastic Raw Foodist, I love sharing my experience of live food nutrition and over the past year I have fallen in love with herbs! Mentoring and self-study are leading me into formal education this year to become a Chartered Herbalist.

I want to thank you for exploring my website! I look forward to the opportunity to sing with you and I thank you for allowing me to be a part of your vocal journey and for being a part of mine!
